In Iranian waters and at a distance of about 200 kilometers from its last position, the ship that had been attacked and seized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was located. The BBC reports that the container ship MSC Aries was spotted in Iranian waters more than 120 miles (195 km) from its last reported position. It is recalled that the ship has a Portuguese flag, but is of Israeli interest. Three days ago, its last recorded position was about 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the coast of the United Arab Emirates and bound for India. The data transponder had been disabled, however this is standard practice for ships associated with Israel sailing in the region. The takeover incident took place on Saturday, just hours before Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles. On Sunday, the ship was spotted near two Iranian islands in the Strait of Hormuz, in satellite images released by the website Tankertrackers.com. BBC Verify believes the ship in the images matches the length and features of the MSC Aries. The 25 crew members (mostly Indians) are believed to be still on board. The Indian government says it has contacted Iran to express its concern about their situation. SHARE THE ARTICLE Contact: info@pronews.gr Copyright pronews.gr 2024
