     Israel: The decision to strike Iran is final - "We will hit
     sensitive facilities"
     Will the Israelis hit nuclear labs?
     
       The Israeli Armed Forces have determined how to respond to the
       recent attack by Iran, but have not yet decided when to strike
       back.
       Israel's response to the massive attack by Iran is taken for granted, with
       the decisions to initiate and conduct it resting in the hands of the Israeli
       leadership, political and military.
       Israeli government ministers appear to have advised Netanyahu to
       attack sensitive facilities in Iran.
       Most of the Israeli decision-making centers believe that action must be
       taken as soon as possible.
       Israel's War Council recently concluded its meeting, with the
       decision being final in favor of a direct strike on Iran .
       The US expects the Israeli response to be limited in scope. Israel,
       according to American analysts, is considering a "narrow and limited"
       strike inside Iran.
       The US, however, has not been officially informed by Israel of its plans.
       " We hope they give us some warning so that we are prepared to
       protect our personnel, not only military but diplomatic throughout
       the region ," said a US official.
       However, he said that " there is no guarantee that they will warn us.
       They know that when they warn us we are likely to again declare
       our opposition to what they are going to do .'
       The systems being considered for use in the retaliation attack
       After speculation of using either a conventional arsenal of fighter jets
       and guided bombs and missiles, or Jericho-type long-range ballistic
       missiles, sources say Israeli military planners have come up with a
       "mixed" solution.
       The Rocks air-to-air ballistic missile, a hypersonic missile with
       similar characteristics to Russia's Kinzhal missile, is now likely to
       be used on a large scale for the first time.
       The specific system can use the F-15I fighter as a launch vehicle, while
       its interception, according to the Israelis, requires anti-aircraft systems
       with anti-ballistic capabilities.

       This particular choice makes sense, as it allows the use of the
       capabilities offered by a ballistic missile, without being forced to launch
       Jericho missiles, which carry the burden of Israel's nuclear deterrent
       and exist in limited numbers in the Israel Air Force arsenal.
